NUMBER SEVEN: Tara Keelen and Alexandra Cusumano Perform a Special Preview of the October Production of “In The Heights”

The Pennington Player’s production of In The Heights doesn’t open until October, but two members of the cast, Tara Keelen and Alexandra Cusumano, performed a special preview of the show during the award ceremony.


In The Heights, which is directed by Kyrus Keenan Westcott, music directed by Mike Gilch, and choreographed by Rachel Tovar, runs October 14-23 exclusively at The Kelsey Theatre. CLICK HERE for more information about the show and the cast.

NUMBER SIX: Marc Flicker Honored with a Special 2016 Kelsey Theatre Award

Kelsey Theatre House Manager Marc Flicker has been a vital member of the Kelsey community for many years. At this year’s award ceremony, Kitty Getlik and Amy Bessellieu thanked him for his years of service with a special Kelsey Award.


NUMBER FIVE: JMK Sing a Special Tribute Song to All of the Kelsey Theatre Stage Managers Out There

A parody to the Disney song, “Paint with All the Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas, JMK put on their stage manager hats and gave a special shout-out to the under-rated world of stage managers. Video of this scene is coming soon.


NUMBER FOUR: The Cast of “Miss Saigon” Perform a Preview Medley of Their 2016-2017 Kelsey Theatre Season Opener

Miss Saigon is set to open the Kelsey Theatre season in September, but they couldn’t wait that long to give the audiences a special sneak peak! The cast got together to deliver one of the biggest show-stopping numbers of the entire ceremony.

NUMBER THREE: Maria of JMK Singing a Special Loving Duet with an “Avenue Q” Puppet

Over the past three Kelsey Award ceremonies, co-host Maria Aromando has had a questionable romantic relationship with a puppet from Avenue Q. With this year being JMK’s final year of hosting the awards, Maria needed to give her puppet lover and proper send-off.

NUMBER TWO: Carolyn Shanken-Kaye Joining Kyrus Keenan Westcott Onstage to Honor the Late John Shanken-Kaye

This year, the Lifetime Achievement Award officially became The John Shanken-Kaye Lifetime Achievement Award. Kyrus Keenan Westcott spoke about his experiences with John, then introduced a touching video to honor him. He then brought out John’s wife Carolyn, who thanked the Kelsey Theatre community for their love and support.

NUMBER ONE: Bill Kamps Joining JMK Onstage for an Epic Medley of Musical Theatre Duets

Act One of The 2016 Kelsey Awards ended with a gigantic medley of musical theater duets performed hilariously by JMK and the versatile Bill Kamps. Words cannot describe this incredible number, so we’ll let the video do the talking. Video of this hilarious performance is coming soon.
