Mr. Smyth worked for United States Rubber Co. (Uniroyal, Inc.), Volkening, Inc., FCI, Amco Products, and Bevcorp/FCI, Inc. He also served in the US Army as a Personnel Specialist. In his spare time he worked extensively in theater, including Litchfield Playhouse, Litchfield, CT, Greenbrier Theater Repertoire in Cleveland, OH, Daughter’s Productions, Philadelphia, PA, and Langhorne Players, Town and Country, Trenton, NJ. He was on the Theater Advisory Board of the Kelsey Theater, Mercer Community College, Hamilton, NJ, as well as Vice President and Board Member of Yardley Players Theater Company, Mercer Community College, and PATH, Inc., Philadelphia. He also directed five theater productions in his career.

Dottie was a strong, resilient, intelligent, funny, easy-going, and loving wife, mother and LaLa (grandmom). She was a talented artist who loved spending time with her family. She never missed an opportunity to support her children. She was a true lover of theatre, both as an audience member and as part of the production staff. She was a master at creating unique props. Painting, sculpting, knitting, and DIY projects were some of her favorite things. She had a soft spot for animals, nature, and goofy humor. Dottie always said, “You have to laugh at yourself,” because she believed that laughter truly was the best medicine.

Honoring the best of the 2016-2017 Kelsey Theatre season, the awards will be handed out in an August 19th ceremony at 7pm inside The Kelsey Theatre in West Windsor, New Jersey. Tickets for the ceremony are now on sale and can be purchased HERE.
