EXTRA EXTRA: Tickets Now On Sale for The 2017 Kelsey Awards!

Other scheduled performances include the other musicals nominated for Outstanding Productions of a Musical (“In The Heights”, “Miss Saigon”, “The Boy From Oz”, and “Anything Goes”, “The Little Mermaid”), the casts of the upcoming production of “Memphis” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, along with other performances that will be announced soon. The ceremony also features some special surprise performances, cameos, and presentations that commemorate the 2016-2017 Kelsey Theatre season.

42nd Street tells the story of a humble, naïve young actress named Peggy Sawyer who has come to audition for a new Broadway musical,. Unfortunately, due to her nervousness, Peggy arrives to the audition late and misses her chance to join the chorus. Luckily, Peggy soon catches the eye of the famous director, Julian Marsh, and he gives Peggy her big break. However, the show’s aging leading lady, Dorothy Brock, quickly grows to dislike Peggy. On opening night, Ms. Brock falls and breaks her ankle. Panic spreads through the company, as the show is doomed for closure, until it is suggested that Peggy take the roll. In only thirty-six hours, Peggy learns twenty-five pages, six songs and ten dance numbers and becomes a star.

Honoring the best of the 2016-2017 Kelsey Theatre season, the awards will be handed out in an August 19th ceremony at 7pm inside The Kelsey Theatre in West Windsor, New Jersey. Tickets for the ceremony are now on sale and can be purchased HERE.
